HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth sophomore Lauren Jortberg and senior Callan DeLine were selected as the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Nordic Skiers of the Week following their performances last weekend at the Dartmouth Winter Carnival.
Jortberg (Boulder, Colo.) skated her way to second-place finishes in both the women’s 10K Classic and 5K Freestyle at the carnival this past weekend, while DeLine finished fifth in the men’s 10K Classic before climbing into second on Saturday in the 10K Freestyle.
This is the third podium finish in as many carnival races for Jortberg this season, having placed third in the first weekend at Colby in the 5K Freestyle. She missed two weekends of carnivals due to competing at the U23 Cross Country World Championships for the United States in Switzerland.
For DeLine, his second-place showing in the 10K Free is his first step onto the podium this year despite four other top-five finishes, including the race on Friday. He has one other individual podium finish in his career, winning the 10K Free at St. Lawrence to start last year’s carnival season.
Dartmouth, which won its home carnival for the first time in eight years (beating out Vermont by 99 points) next skis at the Williams Carnival on Friday and Saturday.
