HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth freshman Katharine Ogden was selected as the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Female Nordic Skier of the Week following her performance last weekend at the Vermont Carnival.
Ogden (Landgrove, Vt.), a product of Stratton Mountain School, skated her way to a pair of second-place finishes for the Big Green, helping her team win both the 15K Freestyle on Friday and the 5K Classic on Saturday. She narrowly missed out on her first carnival victory in the second race, but she was beat out at the tape by a mere three-tenths of a second for the gold.
In the four races she has completed this winter thus far, she has claimed second three times and fourth the other.
Ogden is the second Big Green skier to be recognized by the EISA this season as sophomore Tanguy Nef was chosen as the Male Alpine Skier of the Week last week after winning both the giant slalom and the slalom at the St. Michael’s Carnival.
Dartmouth will host its Winter Carnival this weekend with the alpine events beginning at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Skiway, while the Nordic events kicking off both days at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill.
