BOCA RATON, Fla. — Dartmouth freshman Moon Cheong carded an even-par 72 with senior Jessica Kittelberger just one stroke back to lead the field after the first round of the FAU Winter Warmup on Sunday. Only three strokes separate the three participating teams, with host Florida Atlantic in the lead with a 305 (+17), Brown second with a 306 and the Big Green sporting a 308.
Dartmouth sent seven golfers down to the Osprey Point Golf Club in Boca Raton, Florida, to get a jumpstart on the 2018 spring season. Cheong and Kittelberger proved to be in mid-season form, however, by setting the pace on Sunday, as the former sank three birdies — including consecutive ones on 15 and 16 — while the latter had a pair of birdies and 13 pars on the day. Also contributing to the team score were sophomore Maddie Nelson (80) and Isabelle Kane (83).
The closest players to Cheong and Kittelberger are a pair of FAU golfers, Meghan Bennett and Tai Barber (playing as an individual), each with a three-over 75.
The tournament concludes on Monday morning with the second and final round.
