HANOVER, N.H. — Senior Jessica Kittelberger finished the first round of the Dartmouth Invitational at one-under par, leading the host Big Green to a third-place showing by the end of the day with a 12-over 300, 10 strokes behind Quinnipiac and just one behind Albany.
Quinnipiac was able to vault into the lead thanks to the play of Luciana Tobia who carded a sizzling 65 (-7) on the par-72, 5,975-yard course at Hanover Country Club. LIU Brooklyn’s Carolina Ronchel also broke 70 with a three-under 69 to end the day in second, while Siena’s Sara Riso came in third with two-under 70, just ahead of Kittelberger.
Senior Isabelle Kane and sophomore Maddie Nelson both produced a four-over 76 on the day, good for a tie for 21st place, and freshman Moon Cheong provided a 77 (+5) in her collegiate debut round to complete the Big Green scoring. Sophomore Kristen Soh also competed for the team, tying for 39th out of the 63 golfers with an 80 (+8).
Dartmouth also had three golfers on the course playing as individuals, two of whom nearly cracked the top 10 with a two-over 74 — sophomore Catharine Roddy and freshman Juliann Strauch.
The second and final round will begin on Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
