HANOVER, N.H. — While the Dartmouth men’s golf team opened up its schedule last weekend at Cornell, the women tee off this weekend by hosting the Dartmouth Invitational featuring 10 other teams. The Big Green last won their home tournament two years ago by a whopping 18 strokes, then tied for third last year behind Boston College and St. John’s.

The teams competing against the Big Green this year in the two-round invitational at the par-72 Hanover Country Club will be Albany, Boston University, Central Connecticut State, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, LIU Brooklyn, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and Siena.

The Carolyn A. Pelzel 1954a Head Coach of Women’s Golf, Alex Kirk, will have all eight of his players participating this weekend, with seniors Isabelle Kane and Jessica Kittelberger, sophomores Maddie Nelson and Kristen Soh, and freshman Moon Cheong comprising the five-woman team. Junior Catharine Roddy, sophomore Bethany Burns and freshman Juliann Strauch will all play as individuals.

Coach Kirk believes any of his players can contribute on any given day, with co-captains Kane and Roddy leading the charge. Kane has hit the ball consistently during the preseason, while Roddy had four top-20 finishes last season, including a tie for third at the Ivy League Championship to make the All-Ivy First Team, the first Dartmouth player to do so in 17 years.

The other senior, Kittelberger, is a long hitter with terrific touch around the greens. But the rest of the league should keep an eye on Cheong who is expected to impact the lineup immediately after a prep career that saw her be named to the all-state team all four years in North Carolina. She also qualified and participated in the 2015 U.S. Women’s Amateur, plus led her school to a state title as a freshman.

Results after each round will be available after each round on the official website of Dartmouth athletics,
