MYRTLE BEACH, S.C./PINEHURST, N.C. — Dartmouth junior Isabelle Kane and sophomore Julia Calbi teamed up to qualify for the US Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship, which begins on Saturday, May 27, at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Big Green will also be represented in the men's four-ball championship with alum James Pleat '13 pairing up with his father, Philip, at the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Calbi and Kane qualified for the event last September when they combined to shoot a 69 and finish second at the Marshfield Country Club in Massachusetts. The Pleats also qualified in September with a 68 at the Black Hall Club in Old Lyme, Connecticut, marking their second endeavor into the championship.
Kane, who captained the Dartmouth squad this year, played in seven of the eight tournaments during the 2016-17 season, posting a stroke average of 79.1 and finishing as high as 16th. Calbi, the team's Rookie of the Year and MVP as a freshman, recorded a 76.0 stroke average in the fall with a top finish of ninth at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, but did not compete during the spring.
James Pleat was a first-team All-Ivy League golfer as a senior by virtue of finishing fourth at the 2013 Ivy League Championship. The Pleats are one of three father-son teams in the field, and their age difference (35 years) is the largest between teammates. Philip Pleat is also the second-oldest golfer (61) in the event.
The Calbi-Kane duo tees off on Saturday at 12:36 p.m., while the Pleats will be the last to begin their round at 1:24 p.m.
