HANOVER, N.H. — Jake Pallotta and Harry Kraft each threw two touchdown passes, and Zach Hawkins had two TDs among his team-best seven receptions as the Dartmouth junior varsity overwhelmed an overmatched Norwich jayvee squad, 42-0, in a game shortened to three quarters.
Dartmouth outgained the Cadets in total yards, 254-19, while limiting the Division III Vermont team to a single first down. Norwich’s initial three possessions were short circuited on a diving interception by Ross Andreasik and fumble recoveries by T.J. Simpson and Jimmy Knight, with the first two leading to short touchdown drives for the Big Green.
Scott Lloyd scored the only points Dartmouth would need when he pulled in a pass from Pallotta on Dartmouth’s first possession, broke a tackle and ambled into the end zone from 25 yards out for a 7-0 lead with Davis Brief’s PAT.
Brandon Hester collected a pass from Pallotta and got a key block from Hawkins for an eight-yard TD that made it 14-0 with John Katzman’s kick.
Ben Culmer’s pancake block sprung Caylin Parker for a two-yard touchdown run that made it 21-0 early in the second quarter before the score ballooned to 28-0 on a 19-yard Kraft pass to Hawkins, who sliced through the Cadet secondary with exactly one minute to go in the half.
After Norwich got its only stop of the game on the opening possession of the third quarter, Kraft drove the Big Green 60 yards for a score on its next possession. Hawkins made a terrific catch near the sideline on a 12-yard throw to make it 35-0 with Brief’s PAT.
The final points came on another 60-yard drive with quarterback Darryl Mobley keeping around the right end and winning a footrace to the end zone from 31 yards out.
