Football has it hands down this week. On the soccer pitch and the gridiron, the Big Green came away victorious. Junior Brittany Champagne scored her first collegiate goal to lead the women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Albany. Junior Jack Heneghan ended a 40-year drought against cross-state rival UNH with a one point victory.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Athletes of the Week.

Each week, will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Brittany Champagne, Jr., Suffield, Conn., Women's Soccer, MF/D

Brittany Champagne had a solid weekend for the Big Green. Last Friday she scored the eventual game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory over Albany for Dartmouth’s fifth win of the season. Her goal in the 45th minute was also her first career goal, after the Suffield, Connecticut native tallied 15 points in 2015.

Jack Heneghan, Jr., Atherton, Calif., Football, QB

While junior Jack Heneghan’s final line isn't eye-popping, his performance in the fourth quarter of Dartmouth’s 22-21 victory over 22nd-ranked New Hampshire certainly was. Entering the game with just five completions in his career, Heneghan made his first collegiate start and sputtered a bit through the first three quarters. But he kept his poise and rallied the Big Green from a 14-point, fourth-quarter deficit, completing 10-of-15 passes for 114 yards and two scores in the stanza to help Dartmouth end a 20-game winless streak (0-18-2) against the Wildcats that spanned 40 years. Both of his touchdown tosses in the quarter came in the final five minutes of action, the first coming on a four-yard connection right after converting a 4th-and-1 with a 19-yard pass. The second scoring strike was from just a yard out after Heneghan drove the Big Green 80 yards in less than two minutes while completing 4-of-5 throws for 73 yards.
