NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Dartmouth men’s swimming and diving returned to competition for the first time in over a month this weekend when it took on Yale and Penn in an Ivy League tri-meet. The Big Green were defeated by the Bulldogs (236-63) and the Quakers (233-66).
The highlight of Friday’s diving session was AJ Krok’s first-place finish on the 1-meter board (285.05) and second-place finish on 3-meter (254.95). On 1-meter, Ray Neistat also had a good performance, taking third place (262.40), while Taylor Clough was seventh (219.20). On the 1-meter diving board, Clough was fourth (251.34) and Neistat finished in seventh (211.85).
To start the swimming portion of the weekend on Saturday, Dartmouth placed seventh, eighth and ninth in the 200-yard medley relay. The A relay finished highest (1:36.36) and was followed by B (1:39.35) and C (1:43.21).
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Josh Hendell touched in fifth place (9:32.82). Rounding out the top 10 were Carter Jacobsen in ninth (9:50.08) and Bruno Korbar in 10th (9:58.73). In the 500-yard freestyle, Hendell took seventh (4:38.86). Tony Shen was seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.89), touching over half a second ahead of the eighth-place finisher.
Three Dartmouth swimmers came in the top 10 in the 100-yard breaststroke: Delaney Hall led the pack in eighth (1:00.23) and was followed by Timo Vaimann in ninth (1:00.70) and Paul Cane in 10th place (1:02.80). Hall was back a few events later in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching in seventh place (2:08.80). James Flood placed ninth (2:11.31), out-touching a Yale swimmer by four tenths of a second.
Robby Purvis took ninth in the 200-yard fly (1:57.34), while, in the 50-yard free, Will Belmont was seventh (21.63). Belmont also swam the100-yard freestyle, taking ninth (47.60), and the 100-yard fly, finishing in seventh place (51.12). In the 200-yard IM, Henry Senkfor and Shen finished a tenth of a second apart with times of 1:56.49 and 1:56.63, respectively.
To end the day, Dartmouth placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:14.02). The A relay – made up of Jacobsen, Tang-e Tan, John Hall and Henry Patrick – left seven tenths between it and Yale in sixth. The B relay was seventh (3:15.03).
On Jan. 20-21, the Big Green will host the annual Dartmouth Invitational.
