HANOVER, N.H. – In cold, windy conditions on the Connecticut River, the 8th ranked Dartmouth heavyweight rowing team secured a win over 9th ranked Boston University and won the Bill Cup for the second straight year. It is the first time since 2004-05 that the Big Green has won the Bill Cup in consecutive years.
Starting with the varsity four, coxed by Kevin He, Dartmouth (6:10.94) finished eight seconds ahead of the Terriers (6:18.69) crew which caught a crab 800 meters in, starting the day with a win for the home team. The third varsity eights raced next, with the Terriers (5:26.22) beating the Big Green (5:27.96) by six seats.
In the second varsity, the Big Green (5:26.92) established an early lead and rowed to an open water victory over the Terriers (5:31.81). In the varsity eight, the Big Green overcame a deficit of seven seats in the first thousand to finish just over two seconds ahead of their counterparts from Boston University (5:22.96).
Dartmouth continues spring action next weekend at Brown for the Atalanta Cup.
