WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – On the second day of the 114th annual Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Regatta on Saturday, the No. 13 Dartmouth heavyweight rowing team raced three boats, advancing one to the Petite Final, another to the third final and one to the fourth.

Racing in the A semifinal of the third varsity, the Big Green finished in sixth place (6:03.43), completing the course soon after Navy (5:57.25). Dartmouth will compete in the Petite Final at 8:04 a.m. on Sunday.

Dartmouth placed second in the D semifinal of the varsity eight (5:43.14), edging George Washington by just over a second (5:44.30) and following less than four seconds behind Cornell in first (5:39.860). The Green advanced to the third final and will race again at 8:20 a.m. tomorrow.

Just four seconds separated the top four crews in the D semifinal of the varsity four. Dartmouth placed fourth (6:40.49), finishing closely behind Washington College (6:36.78), Columbia (6:39.26) and Jacksonville (6:39.77). The Big Green left almost seven seconds between them and Temple in fifth (6:47.42). The fourth final for that event will take place at 10:20 a.m. on Sunday.

The only boat that did not compete on the second day was the second varsity. That crew will race again in the third final at 8:28 a.m. Sunday.
