PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving opened the 2017 Ivy League Championship on Wednesday evening by competing in two relays.

After the first day of action, the Big Green are in seventh place with 90 points.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Dartmouth placed eighth (1:44.95), swimming its fastest time of the season by four seconds. Composed of Caroline Poleway, Sam Norton, Kaitlyn McCaw and Maddie Dunn, the relay finished three seconds behind Cornell in seventh.

Later on in the evening, the Big Green’s 800-yard relay touched in seventh (7:28.88). The relay – which was made up of AnnClaire MacArt, Melanya Zaraska, Laura Barthold and Amy Sun – touched two seconds behind Cornell.

Prelims on Thursday will commence at 11 a.m. with the swimming of the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM and 50-yard freestyle. Thirteen of Dartmouth’s swimmers will compete in those three events.
