HONOLULU, Hawaii – To conclude its two weeks in paradise, the Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving team had a quad-meet against the University of Hawaii (L, 216.5-78.5), UCLA (L, 247.5-47.5) and Oregon State (L, 172-111).

Two Big Green divers competed on both diving boards. On 3-meter, Maggie Pionzio finished highest for Dartmouth in seventh (247.40), improving from her performance against Harvard and Cornell, while Allison Green was 12th (198.40). Later on in the day on the 1-meter board, Green took 11th (227.05) and Pionzio was 13th (198.45).

In the first swimming event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay, Dartmouth’s A relay finished in eighth place (1:50.97). Made up of Caroline Poleway, Sam Norton, Kaitlin McCaw and Maddie Dunn, the Big Green left almost a second between it and Hawaii’s C relay. Dartmouth’s B relay followed in 11th (1:52.55).

Molly Brickman was the Big Green’s lone representation in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching in fifth place (10:47.69) and leaving almost 20 seconds between her and the sixth-place finisher. Later in the day, she swam the 100-yard backstroke, taking 10th (1:00.86).

Three Dartmouth swimmers finished in the top 10 in the 200-yard freestyle. AnnClaire MacArt led the way in seventh (1:56.47) and was followed by Melanya Zaraska in ninth (1:57.27) and Sarah Finlay in 10th (1:58.03). A few events later, Finlay was seventh in the 200-yard fly (2:12.84) and was followed soon after by Mia Newkirk in eighth (2:13.20). In the 200-yard IM, Zaraska was ninth (2:13.13), leaving three-tenths of a second between her and the 10th-place finisher.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Sophie Smith took 11th (25.13), while Caroline Poleway swam the 200-yard backstroke and placed seventh (2:07.93). In the 500-yard freestyle, Laura Barthold placed 10th (5:14.85). Poleway and McCaw swam the 100-yard fly and finished in eighth (59.5) and ninth (59.89), respectively.

To end the day, Dartmouth A placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:38.78), touching almost four full seconds ahead of Hawaii. The Big Green’s B relay followed in eighth (3:46.78).

On Saturday, Jan. 7, Dartmouth will head to New Haven, Connecticut, to face Yale and Penn in an Ivy League tri-meet.
