HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will open the 2016-17 season this weekend by hosting Harvard and Cornell for an Ivy League tri-meet.

The men will compete on Friday at 4 p.m., while the women will take to the pool at noon on Saturday. Diving on both days will start an hour prior to the swimming.

The Big Green have opened their season by facing these two teams every year since 2007-08. Last season in Ithaca, the men and the women dropped both of their matches to the Crimson and the Big Red.

Dartmouth has a slightly new look on deck this year. James Holder – a 2000 Princeton grad who had just completed his sixth year at the helm of the Georgetown men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams – was named head coach in April.

Athena Miller joined the staff two months later as an assistant after spending last season at Duke, while Eliot Scymanski returned for his second season.

This will be the Green’s only meet this month. They will return to the water in three weeks for the annual Big Al Invitational, which will pit Dartmouth against Ivy rivals Brown and Princeton. That meet will take place from Dec. 2-4.
