CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving team opened the 2018 Ivy League Championship on Wednesday by swimming two relays. After the first of four days, the Big Green are currently in eighth place with 90 points and are within catching distance of Cornell (92) and Penn (96).
To kick the evening off, Dartmouth finished in eighth place in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.11). Made up of Caroline Poleway, Mackenzie Stumpf, Cathleen Li and Sophie Smith, the relay touched a little over a second behind Penn to earn 44 points. The Big Green were just three tenths of a second off the team record from 2013.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Dartmouth dropped almost 10 second off its seed time to take seventh (7:22.81). Composed of Laura Barthold, Melanya Zaraska, Allie Hunter and Summer Martin, the Green out-touched Cornell by over two seconds and picked up 46 points this time.
