HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men’s cross country team will compete Friday afternoon at the 2016 NCAA Northeast Regional.
The meet is hosted by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York. The Big Green men’s team will compete on a 10K course, longer than the usual 8K the team has run in all season.
In its last competition, Dartmouth took home fourth at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship at Princeton’s West Windsor Fields on Oct. 29. The Green and White were led by the seventh-place and All-Ivy League First Team performance by senior Julian Heninger (24:08).
Daniel Salas was near the front of the pack for almost the entire 8K at Princeton, only to finish 19th (24:18). He will look to bounce back and help try and secure a spot at Nationals for both himself and his Dartmouth teammates on Friday in New York.
The top two teams from each of the nine regional championships will earn automatic berths to the NCAA National Championship Meet in Terre Haute, Indiana, next Saturday. At-large teams will fill out the field based on their finishes at each respective regional race.
