HANOVER, N.H. – No. 32 Dartmouth men’s tennis will kick off Ivy League play on the road this weekend, taking on No. 27 Harvard at 2 p.m. at the Beren Tennis Center. If the match is moved indoors, it will be played at the Murr Center Tennis Courts and can be watched on the Ivy League Network (ILN).
The Big Green have had a great spring so far and enter the weekend with a 14-4 mark after winning 12 straight matches to set a new program record. In February, Dartmouth won its first-ever ECAC Indoor Championship title by taking down Monmouth, Princeton and Harvard all by scores of 4-1 and, the following week, were ranked 14th in the nation, its highest ranking to date. The Green just returned from a three-match, three-date spring break, going 1-2 against No. 23 Oklahoma State (L, 5-2), Wichita State (W, 4-3) and No. 22 Memphis (L, 4-3).
The Crimson have done well in 2018 as well and are currently 16-3. They are on a two-match winning streak after taking down Buffalo and Marist this past weekend and are 9-0 in matches that have been played at home.
The last time the teams met was on Feb. 18 in the ECAC final. Dartmouth grabbed the doubles point and soon had a 3-0 advantage following a pair of singles victories. Harvard’s lone point came at the No. 2 spot, but a win by Ciro Riccardi at No. 5 clinched the match.
The Green will head to Connecticut to take on Yale next Friday, before returning home for the first time since Feb. 25 to host Brown on Sunday.
