NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Dartmouth men’s tennis claimed the ECAC Indoor Championship title following a 4-1 victory over Harvard on Sunday. This is the first time the Big Green – which are now 12-0 on the season – have won the tournament.

“I’m very proud of the way our guys played this match: physically, mentally and emotionally,” head coach Chris Drake said. “We were willing to play our games regardless of the score, regardless of the situation. We have learned to trust each other this year and wins like this are a testament to our collective faith in one another. This is the product of many months and years of hard work and commitment, not just the last three days. We are very proud to bring home the first ECAC title in the history of our program.”

Freshman Peter Conklin and senior Max Fliegner started the afternoon off with a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 doubles, but a Crimson win at the No. 1 position made it a battle for the first point at the No. 2 spot. Junior Roko Glasnovic and freshman Casey Ross had a 6-4 victory to put Dartmouth up, 1-0.

The Green soon had a 3-0 lead following Fliegner’s 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Robert Wrzesinski at No. 4 singles and sophomore David Horneffer’s 6-4, 6-2 win over Jean Thirouin at the No. 3 position. Harvard’s lone point came at the No. 2 spot, but a 6-1, 7-5 win by senior Ciro Riccardi at the No. 5 position clinched the win.
