HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men’s tennis completed the third and final day of its home invite on Sunday, going 3-1 in doubles and 7-1 in singles.
Throughout the weekend, the Big Green went 11-1 in doubles, 23-4 in singles and an impressive 7-0 in three-set singles matches. Junior Eddie Grabill and freshmen Dan Martin, Casey Ross and Gilbert Jaeger went 6-0 throughout the invite, while senior Max Fliegner was also undefeated with a 3-0 mark.
“Our team did a good job being physically and mentally prepared to play these matches over the course of the three days,” head coach Chris Drake said. “We did end up winning quite a few matches this weekend, but in so many instances, I am more pleased with how we played and how we processed information than in the actual results.”
In doubles, Ross and senior Ciro Riccardi fought hard to defeat their opponents from Brown by a score of 8-7, while the pairings of Martin and junior Roko Glasnovic, and Grabill and Jaeger had 8-2 victories.
Ross, Fliegner and Grabill were all on the winning side of three-set matches. Freshman John Speicher had an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Army’s Myles Conlin, while classmate Peter Conklin won his first set against Brown’s Peter Tarwid, 7-6, before taking the second set easily by a score of 6-1.
Next up for Dartmouth will be the ITA Northeast Regional Championship at Yale.
