The men’s golf team begins the spring season on Monday, Feb. 26 at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion University at the Wexford Plantation Golf Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The men are coming off of a competitive fall season that included four big tournaments —the Cornell Invitational, Quechee Intercollegiate in Quechee, Vermont, the Macdonald Cup in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Camden Collegiate Invitational in Camden, South Carolina.
Highlights from the fall included a fifth-place team finish at the Cornell Invitational on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course par-71 course as the Big Green finished with a nine-over 861. Freshman James Turner and sophomore Ryley Griffin led the charge in a tie for 10th at just one-over par, followed by sophomore Will Bednarz one stroke back in a tie for 13th.
The men also had some outstanding individual rounds at each of the four tournaments. At the Cornell Invitational alone, three golfers posted a round below par. One exciting performance was turned in by Jason Liu, who was one of six golfers at the Macdonald Cup to shoot a par or better on the first day with a 140 (E) to tie for fourth before settling for a tie for ninth.
The Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate will give the Big Green golfers a chance to perform on a great golf course accompanied by warm weather for the spring season. The next tournament takes place a month later in which Dartmouth returns to South Carolina for the Furman Invitational in Greenville at Furman University Golf Club.
The Big Green has two other tournaments on the schedule before the Ivy League Championship, which takes place on April 20-22 at Stonewall in Elverson, Pennsylvania.
