ITHACA, N.Y. – The Dartmouth’s men’s golf began its season Saturday against 12 other schools at the Cornell Invitational played at the beautiful Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. The 6,904-yard facility is a par 71.

After two rounds of competing, the Big Green currently sits in ninth place with a combined score of 609 (+41). While Siena currently is in first place with a 591(+23).

At the top of the individual leaderboard is Colgate’s Ryan Skae with a five-under 137, while Dartmouth junior Ian Kelsey is tied for 16th out of 81, leading the Big Green with a score of seven-over 141. After two rounds, sophomore John Lazor, posted seven birdies through two rounds and is tied with senior Sean Fahey for 22nd.Fahey shot a 73 (+2) in the second round, five strokes better than his first.

Classmate Jeffery Lang also improved between rounds, finishing the second by shooting a 77 (+6). Sophomore Reed Russ also competed and picked up his play in the second round with a score of 76 (+5).

Despite a slow start, Will Bednarz rallied during his second 18 holes, shooting six strokes better for a combined score of 156 (+14). Fellow freshman Riley Griffin also started strong with a 77 (+6), taking third amongst Big Green golfers.

The final day of competition resumes Sunday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
