PRINCETON, N.J. –  Freshman Schae Nelson has earned the first Ivy League weekly award of the season for the Dartmouth softball team after being named Rookie of the Week following her work over the weekend.

The Montgomery, Texas native was effective all series long at Princeton, finishing with a .600 average on the weekend with six hits through three games with two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored with a .900 slugging percentage.

In Friday’s first game the freshman recorded two of the team’s three hits, before returning for game two where she was productive as well. In the second game, Nelson led the team with two hits and scored two runs helping her team bounce back after the loss in game one.

Saturday’s series finale was an impressive outing for the Big Green. Nelson helped the team score a season-high 12 runs. In the fourth inning she walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch before getting batted in on a home run from teammate Taylor Ward. She would return to hit an RBI double in the fifth, batting in the final run of the day for the road team.

This is Nelson’s first career Ivy League weekly award, as Dartmouth continues in conference play this weekend hosting Cornell.
