HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth softball seniors Katie McEachern and Morgan McCalmon have been named to the 2016 Academic All-District First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The pair of Big Green seniors were two of four Ivy League representatives on the District 1 team and will advance to the Academic All-American Team ballot, where honorees will be chosen later next month.
McCalmon is a psychology major from Norman, Oklahoma and emerged as Dartmouth’s top pitcher in the circle this season, posting a conference-best 16 wins with 116 strikeouts and 2.71 ERA. She also tallied three saves in 28 appearances in her final season in a Big Green uniform.
McEachern also had a phenomenal senior campaign in Hanover. The anthropology major from San Diego California led the Ivy League in home runs (12) and batted .442, the second highest average of her career. McEachern also knocked in five doubles and three triples this season adding to her team-high 53 hits. She is the defending Ivy League Player of the Year and finished her career batting .380, good for first on the school’s all-time list. McEachern is also first on the all-time lists in home runs (40), RBIs (129), runs (128) and hits (203).
The Big Green concluded their season on Tuesday splitting the final two games of a four-game series with Harvard to finish 27-15 and 15-5 in conference play.
