The Dartmouth women’s soccer team travels to Brookline, Massachusetts, to take on Northeastern in an evening matchup.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The Huskies are coming off a 2-3 overtime loss to Texas on the road last weekend, and are holding a season record of 5-3-0. Selected to finish first in the Colonial Athletic Association, they are sitting in second place behind Elon. Senior midfielder Hannah Lopiccolo was named CAA Player of the Week following her game-winning goal against TCU last weekend. She also leads the team in scoring with eight goals, and assists with two. Junior goalkeeper Nathalie Nidetch had a strong start to her third season in the net, boasting 37 saves, with a .822 save percentage, and only eight goals allowed.
LAST TIME AGAINST NORTHEASTERN
This is the fifth meeting between the Big Green and the Huskies, and Dartmouth holds the series lead, 4-0. The 2015 season is the last time the teams played each other, and the Big Green took a solid 3-1 win.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth enters the matchup off a, 4-2, win over Quinnipiac. All four goals were scored in the first 27 minutes of play, the first two from senior Bianca Ribi, third from senior Brittany Champagne, and the fourth from junior Remy Borinsky.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Against Quinnipiac, the Big Green goalkeepers split time. Freshman Mariel Gordon started her sixth straight game and played the first half without any goals from the opponents, then sophomore Lorna McElrath entered for the second period. McElrath allowed the two goals and also tallied one save. Together this season, the keepers combine for 24 saves and only seven goals allowed.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The captains in green and white are not only leading the team, but also helping lead the offense. Ribi leads the team in scoring with nine points, three goals and three assists, while fellow captain senior Gia Parker also has an assist on the season.
Next up Dartmouth will return to the Boston area on Tuesday to face Boston University at 7 p.m.
