Facilities
Leede ArenaThe Leede Arena, in the John W. Berry Sports Center, is the home of the Dartmouth College women's basketball team. Since the 1987-88 season, when the building opened, the Big Green has fashioned a 129-68 record for a .655 winning percentage. In fact, Dartmouth has posted a record above .500 in all but three seasons. Crowds of more than 1,000 -- or 50 percent capacity -- are not unusual at Dartmouth women's games, making it far and away the most exciting atmosphere in the Ivy League. Among the Berry Center features:
Manley Training CenterBasketball is a year-round commitment for the athletes at Dartmouth, and during the season and in the off-season the women's basketball team works hard to stay fit. The women have full access to the Carla and John Manley '40 Intercollegiate Training and Fitness Center (right), a strength and conditioning area in Alumni Gym that was built in 1998 exclusively for varsity athletes at the College. The women can also utilize the Kresge Fitness Center, an area in the Berry Sports Center open to the general public which features a full Nautilus circuit, free weights, exercise bikes, ergometer rowing machines and Stairmaster units. In addition, each member of the women's basketball team has a specific program that is developed and monitored by Strength and Conditioning Coaches Bob Miller and Jane Taylor. This includes speed drills on the track, explosive lifting in the weight room, and stretching and plyometric work. |
