While most of the students have gone home for the holidays the basketball and hockey teams were traveling in Colorado and representing the Big Green. Senior Devin Buffalo backstopped the men's hockey team to an upset of defending national champion Denver last weekend. Junior Cy Lippold was instrumental in the women's basketball victory at the University of Colorado.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Cy Lippold, Jr., East Stroudsburg, Pa., G, Women's Basketball

Last week the Dartmouth women’s basketball team faced two of its toughest scheduled opponents so far this season, Colorado and No. 13 Ohio State, on the road. The change in altitude and time was no problem for junior Cy Lippold though, as she scored a career-high 24 points against the Buffaloes, leading the team to the first program win over a PAC 12 team. The East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania native also had seven assists, four rebounds, three steals and shot 83.3 percent against Colorado. While the Big Green split their road trip 1-1, falling to the 13-ranked Buckeyes in Columbus, the junior aided her team with seven points, seven assists and five rebounds. Currently leading her team and the conference in total assists with 49, she also has a team-high 23 steals so far this season.

Devin Buffalo, Sr., Wetaskiwin, Alberta,  G, Men's Hockey

After missing the last five weeks due to an injury, senior goalie Devin Buffalo returned to the lineup and the starter’s spot this past weekend in a big way. Buffalo helped Dartmouth to a split at No. 2 Denver that included a 31-save performance in a 1-0 loss on Friday that might’ve been the best game of his career. He followed up up with 38 saves in Dartmouth’s thrilling 5-4 comeback win the nest night. After the high-powered Pioneers beat Buffalo three times in the first period, the senior locked and and stoned the defending national champs for nearly the entirety of the final 40 minutes, allowing only one more goal in the final seconds with the Green and White up by a pair.
