The Dartmouth women’s basketball team embarks on a trip to the Rocky Mountains, to Boulder, Colorado, home of the Colorado Buffaloes, to face UC on Monday night at 9 p.m. eastern time.
SCOUTING THE BUFFALOES
Colorado is off to a solid start this year with a 7-1 mark, the lone loss to North Carolina on the road. Most recently, the Buffaloes took down Colorado State, 70-67, led by Annika Jank who dropped 22 points and Kennedy Leonard who posted 18. Leonard is leading the offense with an average of 16.3 points per game, while Jank is averaging 13.4. The team is shooting fairly from field goal range with a 45.0 percentage and is 68.8 percent at the free throw line.
LAST TIME AGAINST COLORADO
Ten years ago, in December of 2007, the Big Green trekked to Boulder and ultimately fell to the Buffaloes, 57-43. The Buffaloes were receiving votes at the time and were able to secure the win in the last few minutes. Colorado held the lead throughout the game, and while Dartmouth continued to chip away at the deficit, the road team was unable to catch up, and the home squad held their court down with a 10-point lead in the last minute of play.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a Saturday afternoon loss to Maine at home. The Black Bears were able to score more points off of turnovers and shot 100 percent from the free throw line, among other positives for the road team that took down Dartmouth 64-51. Senior Kate Letkewicz led the team with 15 points and Cy Lippold and Emily Slagle scored in double digits, but were not able to come back fully to tie it up or take the lead.
LIPPOLD HOLDING THE LEAD
Junior guard Lippold is leading the Dartmouth offense with an average of 14.6 points-per-game, while Letkewicz is averaging 13 and junior Isalys Quiñones has an average of 10.4 points per game. Following the last two games, the team shooting percentage from field goal range has fallen to 42.1 percent, but remains strong from the free throw line with a 77.9 average.
