While most Big Green sports have wrapped up their seasons, the track and field teams continue to run, jump and throw things successfully. Freshman Julia Valenti earned a podium finish, setting a Dartmouth record, clearing 4.0 m in the pole vault. Junior Colin Minor claimed 10 points for the men's team, winning the hammer throw.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Julia Valenti  Fr., North Reading, Mass., Jumps, Women's Outdoor Track & Field

At the 2017 New England Championship this weekend at Williams, Valenti put herself atop the program's all-time leaderboard in the pole vault. Valenti became the first woman in Dartmouth history to clear 4.0m when she did so on her second attempt at the height on Friday night. No other competing individual managed to match Valenti's height, as she became the 2017 New England Champion in the event.

Colin Minor, Jr, Southport, N.C., Multi, Men's Outdoor Track & Field

Minor was integral in Dartmouth's third-place finish as a team at the 2017 New England Championship. The junior was part of the Big Green's dominating performance in the hammer throw as he won the event and claimed 10 points for his team in the process. His second attempt of the day measured 61.88m, his best throw of the season and the 42nd-best figure in the East this season, good enough to secure a spot at the NCAA East Regional in Lexington, Kentucky, next weekend.
