BOSTON – The 2017-18 indoor track & field campaign got underway Saturday at BU’s Season Opener meet for members of the Dartmouth women's team.

The non-scoring meet was held at the BU Track & Tennis Center and featured several of New England’s top teams kicking off their winter seasons against one another in a familiar setting.

A pair of event victories highlighted the day for the Big Green as freshman Kathryn Laskoski won the 400m and sophomore Cha'Mia Rothwell took home the top spot in the 60m hurdles.

For Laskoski, winning the 400m in 57.01 was a sign of good things to come as the victory came in her first-ever collegiate race.

Rothwell — last year’s Dartmouth Women’s Athlete of the Year — began pretty much where she left off last season: atop the podium. The sophomore was anything if not consistent, running an 8.46 in both the preliminaries as well as the finals, the top time by any runner in either.

Inside the track, Camille Landon was third in the high jump, clearing 5-5.0/1.65m, while Brooke Brunet and Shanthi Hiremath tied for fifth with a matching height of 11-3.75/3.45m in the pole vault.

Amelia Ali was the top thrower on Saturday as her toss of 54-9.25/16.69m earned her third in the weight throw. Lily Lockhart was sixth in the same event with a 48-4.75/14.75 to her credit.

Dartmouth will compete again this weekend, hosting New Hampshire and Maine on Friday (multis events) and Saturday inside Leverone Field House.
