PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – On day three of the ITA Northeast Regional Championship, both of the Dartmouth women’s tennis doubles teams won their Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches to advance to the semifinal. In singles, Kristina Mathis also made it to the semifinal.
Facing Olaya Inclan Solis of St. John’s in the Round of 16, Mathis had a 7-5, 6-1 victory to advance. She will continue play on Sunday.
Playing in the Round of 16, Dartmouth’s doubles teams ended up with 8-6 victories over their opponents. Senior Julia Schroeder and freshman Abigail Chiu won against Buffalo’s Tanja Stojanovska and Anna Savchenko, while Mathis and Lyn defeated Inclan Solis and Irina Protescu of St. John’s.
In the quarterfinal, both Big Green duos won their matches by scores of 8-5. Schroeder and Chiu defeated Brown’s Alyza Benotto and Devon Jack, while Mathis and Lyn took down Laura Moreno and Ana Yrazusta of UMass.
Dartmouth will return for day four of regionals on Sunday morning.
