HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women’s tennis team found its name on the list of the top 50 teams in the country when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its national rankings on Tuesday.
The Big Green are No. 20 in the nation, which is the second highest they have ever been ranked. They were ranked No. 18 in March of 2015, when they got off to an 11-0 start, defeating four ranked opponents and winning the ECAC Indoor Championship.
Already a month into its spring schedule, Dartmouth has a record of 9-1. It won both the Courtside Classic and the ECAC Championship and was 7-0 before suffering a 6-1 loss to William & Mary last weekend. The Big Green rebounded the next day to take down VCU in a very close match by a score of 4-3.
Dartmouth is the only one of the eight Ivy League teams that is nationally ranked.
The 2016-17 season is moving quickly. Just five more non-conference contests remain before conference play begins, which is just seven matches long.
The Big Green have a week off before hosting UMass on Saturday, March 4. This will be the last time they are at home until hosting Brown on April 9, playing six matches on the road during that time.
