CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth women’s tennis defeated Brown, 4-1, on the first day of the ECAC Women’s Indoor Tennis Championship at Harvard’s Murr Tennis Center on Saturday. The Big Green are now 6-0, while the Bears dipped to 2-2.

Julia Schroeder and freshman Racquel Lyn started things off with a 6-2 victory over Maddie Stearns and Mariska Chamdani at No. 2 doubles, but the Bears followed that up by winning at the No. 1 and 3 positions to win their lone point of the afternoon.

In singles, senior Taylor Ng tied the score at 1-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dayna Lord at the No. 1 spot, while a three-set victory by junior Kristina Mathis over Alyza Benotto at the No. 3 position put Dartmouth ahead. At No. 6, freshman Allison McCann added a 6-2, 7-5 victory of her own, while the match was clinched by Lyn’s 6-4, 7-5 defeat of Katie Ta at No. 5.

Dartmouth will return to action on Sunday with a 12 p.m. match against Columbia. The Lions were defeated by the Princeton Tigers, 4-2, on Saturday.
