MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Dartmouth women’s tennis team won the Courtside Classic by defeating Washington State, 5-2, on Sunday. The Big Green remain undefeated on the 2017 season with a record of 5-0.

The Big Green got off to a good start by taking the doubles point. At No. 1, senior Taylor Ng and junior Kristina Mathis had an easy 6-0 win over Barbora Michalkova and Guzal Yusupova, while senior Jacqueline Crawford and junior Lexxi Kiven defeated Victoria Matejevic and Melisa Ates by a score of 6-3 at the No. 3 position.

Dartmouth carried that momentum into singles and soon had a 3-0 edge following a default win by Crawford at the No. 2 spot and a 6-0, 6-4 victory by freshman Chuyang Guan at No. 6. Washington State picked up a win at the No. 3 position, but a three-set victory by Ng – who remains No. 123 in the ITA national rankings – at No. 1 clinched the win for the Green.

Both teams added one more three-set victory to make it a 5-2 match. At the No. 5 position, freshman Racquel Lyn – who is No. 104 in the ITA rankings – took down Ates, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, while Matejevic got a win of her own at No. 3.

This weekend, the Big Green will head to Cambridge for the ECAC Winter Championship.
