NEW YORK, N.Y. – Saturday kicked off 2018 action for the No. 10 Dartmouth women’s squash team, who fell to No. 7 Columbia in the Lion’s home territory, 6-3.
First on court was freshman Ellie Gozigian, who won in three quick games, while senior Rebecca Brownell lost in four and sophomore Julia Potter who managed to draw the match out to five, but could not clinch the win.
The second round saw junior Emma Roberts getting one game off a tough opponent, and freshman Sandra Reiss who lost in 3, but the last freshman on the team, Brynn Bank, showed her determination to win a long, five-game thriller.
In the last round, senior Zainab Molani won a clinical 3-0 and for a moment the Big Green looked like it might have a shot, but today was not that day as sophomore Annie Blasberg lost in three and the Lions managed to squeeze senior Janel Gaube out 3-2, too.
After a reunion with many alumni and Friends of Dartmouth Squash, the team boarded the bus to ride up to Ithaca, New York where they will play Cornell on Sunday.
