WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Early Saturday morning the No. 10 Dartmouth women’s squash team traveled to Massachusetts to face Williams College, and left victorious with a 6-3 win. The win improves the Big Green season record to 3-1.
In the first round of matches representing the Big Green were Rebecca Brownell, Ellie Gozigian and Janel Gaube. All three dropped their first games, finding out how tough Williams is on its home court. Gaube managed to regroup and win her match 3-1, and Gozigian turned around to take down her opponent 3-2, but Brownell could not overcome a tough pairing and fell in four matches.
Going into the second flight with a 2-1 lead, Sandra Reiss fought a long and hard match but ultimately in five. Julia Potter took her opponent to five games and came out on top, and Zainab Molani put on a clinic in accurate hitting to win 3-0.
With a 4-2 Dartmouth lead, only one more win was needed to win the match, and junior Emma Roberts stepped up to secure the fifth win, grabbing a 3-0 victory, as freshman Brynn Bank won her match in the same fashion. Annie Blasberg faced a hard-hitting opponent in the last round, and lost in four tight games.
The Big Green continues its weekend action at Middlebury College.
