HANOVER, N.H. – The ninth-ranked Dartmouth women’s squash team won its first match of the young season by defeating No. 14 Franklin and Marshall, 8-1 at the Berry Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Big Green improve to 1-1, while the Diplomats drop to 1-4.

Freshmen Annie Blasberg and Julia Potter both had to overcome challenging opponents to earn key victories. Blasberg came back from a 1-0 deficit to win her next three consecutive games to win the match, including a difficult game three, which was decided in extra points. Potter won her first game before losing the second game in extra points. She came back to easily win the third before taking the match in the fourth game in extra points.

Dartmouth’s five other victories came in straight games on Sunday, while sophomore Emma Roberts also battled back from a 1-0 deficit to win her match in four games.

The Big Green return to the court on Dec. 7 when Dartmouth travels to rival Harvard at 4 p.m.
