HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women’s squash head coach Hansi Wiens will add three players to his roster for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
“We are very excited to start working with the class of 2020 and look forward to seeing the impact these young men and women will have on Big Green Squash,” Wiens said. “Not only do they bring a high level of squash and athleticism to our program but also passion and dedication to the sport, strong work ethic, commitment to their community, sportsmanship and positive attitude.”
Anne Blasberg – Boston, Mass. / Deerfield Academy
Blasberg comes to Hanover after serving as her team’s captain at Deerfield Academy.
“Annie has a great understanding of the game and is a very smart and strategic player,” Wiens said. “She'll bring a positive, team-oriented attitude to Big Green Squash.”
Julia Potter – Baltimore, Md. / Roland Park Country School
Potter, a captain her senior year joins the Big Green after winning a Division Two High School Championship and an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) title in tennis with an undefeated 9-0 record. As a senior, Potter competed on the U.S. Junior squash team at the British Junior Open, one of the most prestigious junior squash tournaments worldwide.
“Julia is an outstanding athlete and has a great game structure,” Wiens said. “She'll be a great addition to the team with her strong work ethic and sportsmanship.”
Junnat Anwar – Boston, Mass. / The Winsor School
Anwar comes to Dartmouth after being ranked in the Top 20 nationally in the GU17 Division. She is a two-time Eastern Independent League All League selection and won the 2015 Massachusetts Junior State Championship.
“Junnat is an open minded player with a strong passion for the game,” Wiens said. “We are excited to see her improvement through her squash career at Dartmouth as she has high potential.”
