PHILADELPHIA – The Dartmouth women’s lacrosse team dropped an Ivy League contest at Franklin Field Saturday afternoon against No. 11 Penn.
The Quakers (9-2, 2-1 Ivy) defeated the visiting Big Green (5-5, 0-4 Ivy), 17-6.
Sophomore Elizabeth Mastrio led Dartmouth with a pair of goals in the loss.
For the Quakers, Caroline Cummings and Alex Condon each had four goals, while Natalie Stefan, Gabby Rosenzweig, Erin Barr and Emily Rodgers-Healion all had two. Rodgers-Healion (2-4-6) and Condon (4-2-6) finished with six points.
Freshman goalkeeper Kiera Vrindten kept the Big Green in the game early with a plethora of big saves as Penn came out fast. She would finish with 13 stops in the game, while the Quakers got eight saves between starter Britt Brown (5) and Mikaila Cheeseman (3).
Kathryn Giroux picked up seven of the visiting team’s 12 draws as the visitors held a 12-11 edge in the game. Penn had a 20-8 advantage in ground balls and a 39-19 edge in shots on goal.
The Big Green are back in action Wednesday at home with a non-conference tilt against No. 17 Boston College. Opening draw from Scully-Fahey Field is set for 3 p.m.
