MEDFORD, Mass. – Dartmouth sailing’s Charles Lalumiere and Rebecca McElvain were named New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association’s (NEISA) Sailors of the Week after a spectacular performance on the water last weekend.
Both Lalumiere and McElvain were members of the Big Green team that took first in the Lynne Marchiando Team Race. The victory was Dartmouth’s first interconference team race victory since 2002, when the Big Green took first in the Ted Ferrarone Team Race, a second tier national event.
Saturday brought wind and snowy conditions for sailors, but Dartmouth was able to go undefeated in the first round robin of the regatta. On Sunday, the weather improved with a light, but sailable wind. Again, the Big Green performed well dropping just two races enroute to the victory.
Dartmouth returns to the water this weekend when the Big Green compete for the Fowle Trophy in Boston and at the Emily Wick in New London, Connecticut.
