HANOVER, N.H. – A first place finish in A Division at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Coed Championship helped the No. 9 Dartmouth sailing team capture third place overall in the regatta over the weekend, the best finish for the team since taking second place in 2014. 

Christopher Williford, Rebecca McElvain and Sophia Diserio sailed in the A Division while Duncan Williford, Paige Clarke and Peninah Benjamin competed in the B Division. The Big Green finished third in B Division and with a combined score of 184 points took third overall, while No. 3 Boston College won the regatta with 149 points and No. 8 Roger Williams came in second with 167.

A group of women sailors represented the No. 14 Big Green in the first-ever Women’s National Team Race Invitational, hosted by MIT on Saturday and Sunday. Seven teams were invited to the regatta and Dartmouth finished sixth, as Boston University took the win, Yale came in second and Brown placed third. Emma White, Audrey Giblin, Kathryn Hall, Eloise Burn, Lisa Genthner and Mary Amis sailed for the Big Green.

This weekend was the final outing for Dartmouth ahead of the Sperry National Women’s Championship starting May 22 and the 2018 College Sailing/Gill Coed National Championship beginning May 29. Both championship regattas are hosted by Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and close out the season for all collegiate sailing.
