HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth sailing team competed in three regattas over the weekend including the 82nd Annual Boston Dinghy Club Challenge Cup where the ninth-ranked co-ed group finished in fourth place. Down the road at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the No. 14 women-only group participated in the NEISA Women’s Championship, finishing fifth, while the third group representing the Big Green competed in another co-ed race in the Admiral’s Cup. 

In the Boston Dinghy Club event hosted by MIT, Taggart Bonham, Jack McGraw, Max Clapp, Timothy Greenhouse, Josh Cherner and Alyssa Berger raced in the green and white tallying 184 points for fourth place. Last season Dartmouth finished in fourth as well, after taking second place in 2016. No. 15 Boston University took the win with a total of 158 points as No. 18 Bowdoin came in second with 170 and No. 11 MIT placed third with 173. The Big Green finished ahead of Ivy foes Brown, Harvard and Yale, after the Bulldogs were recently ranked first in co-ed rankings. 

The Reed Trophy hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy was also named as the NEISA Women’s Championship regatta with a field of 17 teams where Dartmouth’s squad came in fifth with 122 points. Emma White, Audrey Giblin, Paige Clarke, Lisa Genthner and Peninah Benjamin raced for the Big Green. No. 3 Boston College took the win with 73 points as No. 1 Yale came in second with 95 while the No. 5 U.S. Coast Guard and No. 4 Brown tied for fourth with 110. 

Dartmouth has its second co-ed group participate in the Admirals Cup hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. Rebecca McElvain, Christopher Williford, Erik Weis and Eloise Burn represented the green and white. The Big Green finished 10th in the field of 18 as No. 5 Hobart and William Smith finished first with 94 points, No. 1 Yale took second with 107 and Charleston placed third with 110.

Next weekend Dartmouth is slated to compete in the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl which will be the New England Coed Championship regatta hosted by Brown.
