HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth sailing team won the St. Mary’s Inter-Conference Regatta, and placed second in Amanda Trophy, in two of the four regattas it competed in over the weekend.
In Saint Mary’s City, Rebecca McElvain, Christopher Williford, Paige Clark and Duncan Williford raced for the Big Green. The Division A team finished with 51 points, behind George Washington who had 41, and the Division B pair finished with 58 points, combining for a total of 109 in first place. The Colonials came in second with 129 points and the U.S. Naval Academy finished third with 143.
The Amanda Trophy was hosted by Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, where the University of Vermont took the win with a total of 53 points. Representing Dartmouth were Sophia Diserio, Audrey Giblin, Kathryn Hall and Lisa Genthner in the all-female team race. The Big Green finished second out of 14 with 67 total points, ahead of Harvard who came in third with 69.
At the Chris Loder Trophy, Dartmouth came in third out of 15 at the regatta hosted by the University of New Hampshire. Tufts took the win with a total of six points, followed by Boston University with seven and the Big Green with eight. Sailing for the green and white were Aly Berger, Max Clapp, Michael Tellini, and Max Eberstadt-Beattie. The squad tied with Tufts and BU in the Division A race with a four-point score and finished the Division B with four points as well, behind the Jumbos and Terriers.
Tufts hosted the 35th Professor Stedman Hood Trophy, where the Jumbos took the win with 38 total points. In the 20-boat field, Dartmouth finished 11th, Erik Weis, Eloise Burn, Jack McGraw and Mary Amis raced for the total score of 102. Roger Williams and Yale tied with 44 points and competed in a tie-braker to finish second and third respectively.
This weekend the team will host its first home event of the year with the Hewitt Trophy, and sailors will also travel to the Regis Trophy in Boston, the Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard in New London, Connecticut, and the Susan Rogers Trophy in Ithaca, New York.
