CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two members of the Dartmouth sailing team have been named New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Women Sailors of the Week. Junior Emma White and sophomore Peninah Benjamin are honored by the association after their performances last weekend.
At the Stu Nelson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College, White and Benjamin won the Division A, after winning two of the seven races and recording only one race outside of the top eight. The pair led the team to finishing in sixth place overall.
“Emma and Peninah have been working hard on their starting and their upwind decision making and it really showed at the Stu Nelson,” said head coach Justin Assad. “Assistant coach David Thompson was working with them and remarked that they had an exceptional grasp of the primary variables on a challenging race course.”
The Big Green will return to the water this weekend in four regattas in the New England area.
