SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Dartmouth sailing team took third at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ISCA) Match Racing National Championship in San Diego, California.
The Big Green improved to third after finishing fourth at the end of the first day of the round robin style tournament at the San Diego Yacht Club. Dartmouth went 6-3 in its first day on the water, with a crew consisting of Charles Lalumiere, Nate Greason and Rebecca McElvain. In the quarterfinal round, the Big Green defeated Southern California, before falling to eventual champion, Georgetown in the semifinals.
Dartmouth jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the best of three series, but the Hoyas came back to win the next two races to advance to the championship. In the petit finals, the Big Green took down the College of Charleston to secure the third place finish by sweeping the first two races. Dartmouth finished the tournament with 11 overall wins in the 10-team field.
The Big Green concluded their fall season and will return to the water for their spring season in February.
