With only a small break in between seasons, sophomore Abbey D'Agostino continues to impress with her athletic prowess, setting the Dartmouth indoor one mile record, breaking a record that has stood since 1996. Senior Doug Jones was a key contributor for the Big Green men's hockey team, scoring the gamewinner in overtime against Colgate. Both players were name athletes of the week.

Each week, will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Doug Jones, (Marietta, Ga.) Sr., F, Men's Hockey

The senior winger was a key contributor in the Big Green's weekend split with No. 9 Cornell and No. 18 Colgate on the road. Jones scored a power-play goal Friday against the Big Red before a three-point night on Saturday in Hamilton against the Raiders. With the Big Green trailing by three, 4-1, entering the third period, Jones had two assists in the final two minutes to help force overtime where he scored the winner halfway through the extra session. His performance this weekend moved him into a tie for the team lead in scoring this season with 14 points (6g/8a) and four-points shy of becoming the 26th player in program history with 100 in his career (24g/72a).

Abbey D'Agostino,  (Topsfield, Mass.),  So., Indoor Track

The sophomore set a Dartmouth women's indoor track & field program record in the mile Saturday afternoon at Leverone FieldHouse when she ran a 4:38.44 against Yale and Columbia. D'Agostino's new mark in the event eclipses the old record of 4:41.89, set by five-time All-American Kristin Manwaring '96 on March 9, 1996 at theNCAA Championship Meet. The new record time not only helped D'Agostinowin the race, but also automatically qualified her for NCAA Indoor Championships in March. In the process, her five points earned with the first-place finish also helped Dartmouth to yet another win, its third in a row to start the season. Saturday marked D'Agostino's debut this season after sitting out the first two weekends of competition.
