Indoors and out, the Big Green is represented by quality athletes this fall. Sophomore Paige Caridi earned MVP and Ivy League co-Player of the week honors on the volleyball court while freshman James Hickok came up big on the soccer pitch, leading Dartmouth to wins over Boston College and UMass.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
(Westport, Conn.), Fr., Men's Soccer
James Hickok was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after he posted a 2-0 record for the men’s soccer team with wins over Boston College and Massachusetts. After surrendering two early goals to the Eagles, Hickok settled in to help Dartmouth earn its first win of the season, a 3-2 double-overtime victory. On Sunday, he recorded his team’s second straight shutout and his first collegiate clean sheet in a 2-0 win over UMass. Hickok also had a hand on the offensive end, when his long punt was converted into an assist. Through two games, he’s made eight saves with a .800 save percentage.
(Austin, Texas), So., Volleyball
Dartmouth sophomore Paige Caridi starred on the court for the volleyball team last weekend, leading the Big Green to a 3-1 record during the Big Green Invitational. The outside hitter produced 57 kills, 59 digs and a trio of double-doubles on her way to being named to the tournament MVP. The Austin, Texas, native had her best collegiate game in the finale against Grand Canyon. In the five-set thriller, Caridi had a career-best 24 kills and 21 digs with an attack percentage of .300. Through the team's first seven games, she leads the team in kills (72) and digs (89). In addition to Dartmouth Athlete of the Week honors she was named the Ivy League co-Player of the Week.
