Junior Abbey D'Agostino put together another outstanding weekend at Outdoor Heps with two individual championships (1500m/3000m), while freshman Edward Wagner picked up crucial points for the men’s team with solid showings in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.), Jr., Women’s Track & Field
The junior middle-distance runner claimed two more individual Heptagonal Championships to bring her outdoor career total to five as she once again took the top spots in both the 3000m and 1500m Sunday at Princeton’s Weaver Stadium. D’Agostino broke her own meet records in each event in the process, running a 4:11.94 in the 1500m and a 9:21.79 in the 3K. In soundly defeating the rest of the field, D’Agostino claimed her second straight Ivy League Heptagonal Women’s Female Track Athlete of the Meet honor.
Edward Wagner (New York, N.Y.), Fr., Men’s Track & Field
Making his Outdoor Heps debut, Wagner ran to a second-place showing in the 400m hurdles on Sunday to earn Second Team All-Ivy honors. The first-year Dartmouth runner has been strong all season in the event, but came up big in the conference championship meet with a 52.67 in Sunday’s final, the fifth-fastest time in program history and a new personal best. He would also run the anchor leg of the Big Green’s 4x400-meter relay team that posted a time of 3:19.70.
