(Topsfield, Mass.) Sophomore, Cross Country
Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.) of the women's cross country team has been named the DartmouthSports.com Female Athlete of the Week for her strong showing at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30. The sophomore harrier paced the Big Green with a fourth-place finish in a field of nearly 400 runners in the women's Gold Race. The annual meet hosted by Lehigh featured some of the best runners from the Northeast and across the nation with D'Agostino running a 20:22 on the 6K course. Earlier this season and in the team's only other meet, D'Agostino won the Dartmouth Invitational and helped the Big Green to the team title. At the Paul Short Invitational, her fourth-place finish helped Dartmouth claim eighth in a race of 45 teams.
Senior Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) claimed the individual tournament title at the Macdonald Cup this past weekend. The tournament was held at the Yale golf course and Williamson won the event at 4-under-par. He shot a 1-over-par 71 in the second round a day after he carded a 5-under-par 65 to finish with a two-round total of 136. Williamson helped the Big Green finish third at the tournament with team score of 573. Dartmouth competes at the Big 5 Invite this weekend, Oct. 8-9, at the Plymouth Country Club.
