Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Dartmouth's Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
This week's Cross High-Performance Athletes of the Week - field hockey'sand men's cross country's - went above and beyond to boost their teams performances this week. McHenry, a senior forward, helped lead the team to a sweep of the weekend with victories over Harvard and Vermont. Against Vermont, scored two goals and had three assists. Shaw, competing at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship, finished third overall to push the Big Green to a second-place team finish.
Dartmouth Male Athlete of the
, (Falmouth, Maine), Cross Country, Junior
For the second time this year, junior Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) was named the Dartmouth male athlete of the week. Last Friday, October 29, he competed at the Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonal Championship, and finished third overall. He finished with a time of 24.23.7, seven seconds faster than the fourth-place finisher. In the 8K race, Shaw helped the team place second, which is its highest finish since it won the event in 2005.
Dartmouth Female Athlete of the Week:
Kelly McHenry (Williamsburg, Va.) Field Hockey, Senior, Forward
Senior Kelly McHenry (Williamsburg, Va.) tallied seven points over the weekend to push the Big Green to victories over Harvard and Vermont. Playing in her final home game, the senior scored two goals and had three assists in a 9-4 victory over Vermont on Sunday. On Saturday, she contributed to the 1-0 win against Harvard in overtime. She scored seven goals and has 17 assists on the year for a total of 31 points.
