HANOVER, N.H. – Head coach Amy Fowler of the Dartmouth field hockey team has announced that seniors Olivia Quaglia and Jenn Weissbach will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2013 season.

“Olivia and Jenn complement each other very well,” Fowler said. “They both bring a positive yet demanding leadership style, which will fit nicely into the dynamic of the 2013 squad.

“Liv and Jenn have worked hard to bring our returning group together over the course of our spring training,” Fowler continued. “They are doing a great job of utilizing the strengths of their fellow senior classmates, as this group looks to make their final mark on the Big Green program this fall!”

Quaglia, a Los Altos, Calif., native, is one of two returning players from last year’s team to earn First Team All-Ivy League honors along with Ali Savage. A reliable defender, she played all but seven minutes all season as a junior and was also tabbed to the 2012 Longstretch/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team for her play.

Weissbach is another returning member of the Big Green’s defensive corps that allowed just 46 goals a season ago. A North Caldwell, N.J., native, Weissbach proved to be one of the team’s most valuable reserves off the bench last fall, playing in all but two games and adding a veteran presence to a team that posted its best season in a decade.

Quaglia, Weissbach and the rest of the Dartmouth field hockey team kick off the 2013 campaign on Sept. 6 at California in the first of two games played at Berkeley. Fans can also get a glimpse of the Big Green as they take on Harvard in a scrimmage on Saturday, August 31 at Chase Field in Hanover.
